Settlement Visas

A settlement visa is a visa that allows a foreign national to live and work in another country.

This is the most expensive and difficult visa to obtain.

The forms are normally 5-15 pages long and you must answer all the questions.

Below we will try and give you a good selection of the most normal questions:

  1. When will you travel?
  2. Who will you travel with?
  3. Have you ever visited the country before?
  4. Do you have a criminal record?
  5. Where will you live?
  6. Who else lives there?
  7. What is the relationship between you and the other people?
  8. Will you work?
  9. Where will you work?
  10. Do you have an offer of employment already?
  11. How much money do you have?
  12. Have you ever been a member of a terrorist organisation or have promoted violence and racial hatred?
  13. Have you ever committed genocide or war crimes (this is an actual question from the UK settlement form and there is after the end of the question a box to tick Yes or No. Who would be stupid enough to say Yes to committing war crimes?)

You will need also a valid recent medical check up from a hospital approved by the Embassy of the country you want to settle (UK for example).

We would advise that you consider very carefully before you apply for a settlement visa. It is a very big step to make.

If at all possible please do talk to the embassy staff that you wish to live in (i.e. UK) and listen to their advice and get from them a list of approved immigration lawyers.

ONLY USE EMBASSY/CONSULATE APPROVED IMMIGRATION LAWYERS.

Ideally you want to talk to someone similar to you (IE A foreigner wishing to settle in the UK)
